Prominence Eruption
February 8, 2022 @ 11:00 UTC
A large prominence that had been hanging around the southeast limb the past several days finally erupted. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is seen leaving the Sun and so far it looks to be headed away from Earth.

Geomagnetic Storm Watch Added
February 8, 2022 @ 00:50 UTC
NOAA/SWPC upgraded their geomagnetic forecast to include the possibility of minor (G1) storming beginning late on February 9th when a CME is expected to pass Earth. More updates will be added whenever necessary.

Filament Eruption and CME
February 7, 2022 @ 01:05 UTC
Good evening. Solar activity during the past 24 hours was technically speaking at low levels, although a filament seen here that was located near AR 2939 erupted on Sunday beginning around 09:00 UTC (Feb 6). This event generated a faint halo coronal mass ejection (CME) that is likely heading towards Earth. A minor impact to our geomagnetic field is predicted sometime on February 9th. Geomagnetic storming is not currently in the forecast, however active (Kp4) conditions should be expected. Aurora sky watchers at higher latitudes should be alert during the next 72 hours.

Elsewhere, AR 2936 rotated onto the west limb and out of directed view. Both AR 2940 and 2941 will remain a threat for at least minor C-Class solar flares during the next 24 hours.
