CME Observed

Image
CME Observed February 28, 2022 @ 12:20 UTC Good morning. An eruption in the southeast quadrant measuring C3.1 seems to be responsible for this coronal mass ejection (CME) leaving the Sun. So far it appears to be headed to the east and away from our planet. More updates on this later today if necessary. Solar activity is predicted to remain at low levels during the next 24 hours. solar update

Image
Solar Update February 24, 2022 @ 23:30 UTC A trio of former active regions from earlier in February are approaching the east limb and will begin to turn back into view within the next 48-72 hours. It remains to be seen if any sunspots are still visible, but imagery courtesy of STEREO Ahead suggests they are fairly stable at the moment. Stay tuned to SolarHam.com for the latest updates.

Galaxies Colliding 682 Million Light-Years Away

Incredible NASA Image Shows Three Galaxies Colliding 682 Million Light-Years Away BY   ROBERT LEA   ON 2/22/22 AT 7:48 AM EST 01:17 The Milky Way Collides With Andromeda SHARE Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Reddit Share on Flipboard Share via Email Comments TECH & SCIENCE SPACE GALAXIES The Hubble Space Telescope has imaged the ongoing collision of three distant galaxies. The picture shows bright swirls of dust and stars from the galaxies that make up the merger event IC 2431. Located nearly 682 million light-years from Earth in the constellation of Cancer, the merger IC 2431 was first discovered by Stephane Javelle on February 24, 1896. And now, almost 126 years to the day since it was discovered,   NASA   revealed an image showing it in stunning detail. NASA said: "The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has captured what appears to be a triple galaxy merger in progress, as well as a tumultuous mixture of star formation and tid...

Two Supermassive Black Holes on Verge of Colliding Spotted by Scientists

Two Supermassive Black Holes on Verge of Colliding Spotted by Scientists Ed Browne   -   5h ago Follow React 5 Comments | 56 Save for later © solarseven/Getty A stronomers believe they have spotted two colossal black holes orbiting each other that are set to collide in the future—an event so energetic it will shake the fabric of space and time. The discovery was made by scientists observing a quasar, which is the name given to extremely bright cores of galaxies where gas is superheated to millions of degrees by a supermassive black hole. The quasar in question, PKS 2131-021, has been studied extensively with radio observations spanning 45 years. Over time, researchers had noticed that the brightness of PKS 2131-021 would sometimes change. Not only was the light varying periodically, but sinusoidally. In other words, there was a pattern that the researchers could trace. They think the reason for this is that a jet of light from the quasar is moving back and forth like a ...

Egypt's New Discovery Is Challenging Our History Ad Ad Housediver Around 76 percent of species vanished as they struggled to cope with the devastating climate changes that occurred in the wake of the asteroid that struck 66 million years ago. Those that ...
